On March 30th we proudly hosted our ever popular annual Dogs Day Out at Alistair Knox Park. All the Eltham Veterinary Practice staff were there to meet, greet and mingle with the pets and people of our wonderful community.

Dogs of all shapes, sizes and ages came together to enjoy a stunning autumn morning with their families close in tow.

There was sniffing, prancing, playing and pouncing and every pooch from Dachshund to Doberman had their chance to shine.

Gus and Mina led organised group Dog Walks and put owners through their paces along the picturesque Diamond Creek River, creating a refreshing and social start to the day.

The walk was soon followed by the ever popular ‘Best Trick’ and ‘Best Dressed’ pet parades! Gus guided the line-up and audiences was captivated with tutus, hoop tricks, singing sensations and super-dogs bringing many rounds of applause. It was a close competition that gave our judges Mina and Mel a tough job to decide who got first place. In the end everyone was a winner receiving some take-home treats.

Activities were endless to keep both your pooch and the entire family amused. There was face painting, reptile patting, Polly the Pig tricks, a jumping castle, children’s farm, stage performances and the exciting Coursing Lure where every dog had the opportunity to be a racing champion.

Appetites were appeased with scrumptious hot dogs, hot/cold drinks and the ever popular ice cream van.

For those more relaxed folk there were numerous stalls to peruse including up market pet furniture and accessories, animal rescue organisations, pet care information and new GPS collars for those furry ‘prison break’ fans.

After a wonderful day of fun, food, prizes and play, every 4-legged and 2-legged companion left with smiles, goodies and new friends.

On behalf of the Eltham Veterinary Practice thank you all for coming – to both familiar faces and new.

We hope to see you back next year!
